When I first read the summary I expected that Tanner would influence the debate itself making the debate teams discuss unsuitable subjects like sex, masturbation, exhibitionisme, male body appreciation, Farther-son relations and so on. With Tanners help the debate teams could have reached some interesting conclusions that would have had the assembly agree on quite disturbing behaviours. So I was surprised to see the story pick up at the end of the debate. But the ritual was a fun addition. I am a little bit sad that it was just forgotten. I am generally not a big fan of the "When I snap my fingers you will forget everything that has happened". I think I would have been much hotter if everyone in the room would just consider this the normal way to end a debate. Or at least that the mantras the teacher repeated will stick with him and form his personality. He will think of himself as the master of debate and exposure without remembering the actual ritual. But on the other hand I do love the part between Jiang and Aidan at the end, where the other guy just completely accepts that of course they are gonna forget as soon as the leave the room and that Jiang is the weird one for not understanding that.
