GaySpiralStories began life as a rescue mission. What started as a handful of hypnosis and mind-control stories on a hobbyist's home page in the late 1990s now spans four themed sites, hundreds of thousands of readers, and more than a quarter-century of continuous gay erotic fiction.
Long before Grails, before HTTPS, before ratings and tags and star-counts, there was eroticgayhypnosis.com — Tom's personal home page dedicated to gay hypnosis and mind-control fiction. Remarkably, the site is still online today, frozen since its last update on February 28, 2014. It's a time capsule of the early web: built in an old VCOM "Web Easy" WYSIWYG editor, laid out with absolutely-positioned GIF banners, a visible hit counter, and pink-on-black hyperlinks surrounding links to AEBN and MaleFlixxx. Visit it to get a sense of where this whole network of sites came from.
Tom's real achievement, though, was the sub-project hosted under EGH's wing: the Narcissus' Cursed Men Collection, or NCMC. In its own words at the time, the NCMC was "a site hosted by Eroticgayhypnosis for people who love reading HOT erotic fiction about men who are cursed or hypnotised to have lots of sex with other men. The site is unique in that it allows authors to submit their own stories and for stories to be ranked on theme (ranging from muscle theft to time stop)." It grew for more than a decade, first on EGH itself and later at its own address ncmc.webfactional.com, and became the de-facto meeting place for readers and writers of this very specific corner of gay fiction.
In 2015, Tom decided the NCMC had served its purpose and shut it down. He did, however, do the community one last enormous favour: he shared a zip of the complete ten-plus-year archive so that no story would be lost.
Long-time community member Hugh Michelsen (known on the forum as MonsterMash62) decided the archive could not be allowed to disappear. In September 2015 he stood up a brand-new site from scratch, seeded it with the NCMC backup, and called it "The Gay Spiral MC Collection".
Hugh rebuilt the platform in Grails and rebranded it Gay Spiral Stories. By the end of 2016, the site had real-time text search, site-wide HTTPS, a proper series data model, tag-based browsing, author accounts with password resets, a Google-Drive-backed wiki, and its first Patreon campaign keeping the hosting bills paid.
In October 2017, Hugh announced he was stepping down and asked the community for a successor. A long-time member, Martin — who in 2024 adopted the name Corin, borrowed from one of his own oldest stories — volunteered. The handover completed on November 4, 2017.
Within two weeks, Corin launched the community forum. By New Year's Eve the site had its multi-dimensional rating system, still central to how stories surface today.
What had been a single site grew into a themed network of four. Each new site needed its own visual identity, and artist Hijaden gave them exactly that — the rendered hero images for Gay Cupid, Gay Kinky and Gay Collar are all his work, and they remain the face of the sister sites to this day.
GayCupidStories.com launched in August 2021 as the first sister site, dedicated to romance-leaning stories — from sweet to steamy — but still with room for mind-control and kink.
GayCollarStories.com followed in October 2021, focused on leather, BDSM, and power-exchange scenarios.
Finally, in December 2021, GayKinkyStories.com opened as the unified hub for the whole network — pulling together stories from Spiral, Cupid and Collar in one place.
Image uploads (March 2022), a formal story-approval process, branched and interactive stories (October 2022), and read-tracking (January 2023) followed in quick succession. When Sponsus shut down in mid-2023, a Stripe donation integration took its place within weeks, and the Curated Lists feature launched that same August.
In March 2024, Corin stepped back from day-to-day management, handing the social side of the sites to a self-organising admin and approver team supervised by Nu-and-the-Nus and MonsterMash62, while continuing to own the technical and financial side.
In May 2025, author Soren Fitz joined as co-steward, and Corin returned to a more active role in the background. Through the autumn of 2025 both Nu and Soren transitioned out. In July 2025 the servers were moved from AWS to a new European host. On New Year's Eve 2025, Mafisto was appointed Administrative Assistant & AI Coordinator, reflecting the newest challenge: policies around AI-generated fiction.
New features — most recently Recommended Series — continue to roll out, and story challenges remain a regular fixture of life on the sites.
Every story posted here is part of a line that runs back through Hugh, through Tom, and through the thousands of readers and writers who kept this archive alive when it could so easily have vanished. Thank you for being part of it.
