This is fun. Looking forward to seeing how Marc's newly magic dick impacts reality!

Nice catch! I definitely have some plans for how Sam's poor choice of words affects the story. @Derek Williams

I am enjoying this a lot more than I thought I was going to. The dynamic between the two is comedic and relatable, and I really want to know what happens to them next. I did cringe at first when they started writing in a textbook seemingly without prompt (mostly from IRL experiences with textbook rentals and the need to keep them in top condition to avoid fees), but now I wonder what will happen when there is no more writing room left...

Glad you're enjoying it! Since the textbook was already heavily marked up when the main characters got it, I figured they wouldn't be too worried about adding their own graffiti. @Ng5

I always enjoy that the trope of a reality-altering book, and the premise of it being restricted to a textbook is *great* — but, even more than a fun premise, this is just such a fun *story*, and a fantastic interpretation of the trope. I love the character dynamic between Sam and Gabe, and I think that making the story's main character straight (while his roommate and best friend is gay, and everything around him gets gayer and gayer) is a great idea. Sets up a really fun tension where *we* know how a story with a straight protagonist will end, if it's a GSS story I mean... even if Sam is convinced that he's hetero for life! I'm definitely looking forward to future chapters of Sam and Gabe's escapades.

Definitely planning on playing around with what "straight" means when the main characters can edit reality. @Nutiper

Great start! Looking forwards to seeing more! I'm especially curious about how this memory altering technology will factor into the story. :3

Great story, the only part I winced at was repeating the myth of Marsha throwing the first ANYTHING at Stonewall. She and Sylvia weren't even there the night that the police raided. They were extremely active in the Stonewall Rebellion in the following days, but they didn't catch word of what happened at Stonewall until the first night's events already ended. Stonewall charged a cover, so Marsha and Sylvia were at a drag bar several blocks away. Had this confirmed by a Stonewall vet who was INSIDE Stonewall when a drag king named Vinnie threw the first punch.

Thanks for the history tip. It prompted some deeper research -- I'm going to edit the story to make it more accurate. I found this excellent article on the complex oral history of Stonewall, and figured I should share it: https://www.them.us/story/who-threw-the-first-brick-at-stonewall

@bluesuedewho I'll also add that Sylvia's comment about the Molotov cocktails was most likely in jest: there were none of those thrown either, and probably no bricks either (the entire street at that time was cobblestone, and there were no construction sites nearby to grab bricks from).

@bluesuedewho That article you posted also has a couple of historical inaccuracies. Storme DeLarverie ALSO wasn't there on that first night. She was working as a bouncer in a lesbian bar in a different neighborhood, and couldn't get there until the following day. It was, according to Stonewall veteran Rusty Rose (confirmed to have been inside the Stonewall at the time), a drag king whom she only knew as "Vinnie" that threw the first punch inside the Stonewall Inn itself, which Rusty then followed up with her own right hook to a cop's jaw.

I feel like a savvy fix would just be to highlight (in the story) that it *is* a popular myth, rather than a historical detail. That would solve the problem of inadvertent misinformation (because the story will highlight that, oh, this is a common sentiment but isn't true), while also keeping the flow of the story as written, without disrupting too much. So Sam could have edited the sentence "It's a popular myth that Marsha P. Johnson threw the first dildo at Stonewall..." which still changes their reality, but in a way that acknowledges it's also a myth.
