I can't believe it's me commenting on a ParadoxBear story! What a topsy-turvy universe! Great set-up, quick and easy exposition and we're off and running. Well done -- excited to read more!

@[absman420](/user/show/162063) Thank you! This is high praise coming from you. My hope is to get out a chapter once every week or so- we'll see how realistic that is, but I think it's attainable!

@Anonymous Id take a guess and say that person who texted Paul might be a hunter if they do exist- why would they want to know about the wolves? Either that or they're a wolf lover but...I really doubt it. The way they spoke felt very urgent in that text of theirs. It would make sense- while Al might have failed- there likely were humans who recognized weres for what they were and saw their taking of their own as a threat. As weres evolved, they may have as well- engaging in a shadow war in the dark. Though with how volatile were politics are, it's likely most hunters (if they do exist) operate in small groups- but possibly with connections in high places. Just as how weres have infilitrated positions of power in human society- like Pete's allusion to a high ranking priest and even leaders of countries- hunters if they exist may have done the same- or opt for guerilla tactics and work as underdogs. It's hard to say- it could go either way. Though in truth, were politics due to their volatility likely work to any hunters advantage if they can capitalize on it- it's likely they can take advantage of inter-pack violence or pack coups to see their goals realized- which would likely involve the elimination of weres in areas they have claimed- essentially using inter-were violence to their own advatange. There may well be various areas weres can't go to because hunter presence is strong there. Safe for humans...but not weres. And that's dependent on how these hunters are culturally- and what they are beholden to....they might have their own dubious nature to them as well. It might not just be weres they target, but any potential allies of them, even if they are unaware those they assist are weres, or even if they are human. Were society and leadership (as well as culture) likely have evolved their own responses and policies on how to navigate the threat of hunters if they do exist, and how to avoid being detected by them. While weres may be stronger than men- they aren't invincible- no matter how much weres see themselves as superior to humans (which in some ways they certainly have more capabilities compared to the former- especially in physical prowess). There likely are ways to severely harm or kill a were hunters could use. Traps using scents, poisons useful on wolves, long-range attacks and things that nullify a weres physical advantage or cripple their senses (like smell) would likely be valuable tools by which to combat or slay them if a hunter did exist.
