Didn't have a chance to read this chapter until now. Wow. That was great. I'm still hard.

> Standing up to Snake and revealing that he understood all the while and made him work to speak French. > That Rugby Boy was bi-lingual was in my head the whole time but I didn't know when I was gonna pull the trigger. I'm glad this moment happened for the reveal. > And then Devin comes in at the end; so how exactly with the Great One heal him and what will the Great One make him into? > Honestly, I have no idea -- I'm glad Devin got a reward tho.

Another little bit I love, that I neglected to comment on- the "*oui* to "we" line was such a great little touch, I loved the pun. So Devin, Joe, Snake, Rugby Boy, the Sheriff, and the Deputy alone in a room together... and the Super-Soldiers on their way to take out Bowden and maybe Murdock, and hopefully save Tony... one more week to find out how this all ends...

Wow, Rugby Boy comes to us as a full character now. Standing up to Snake and revealing that he understood all the while and made him work to speak French. And then Devin comes in at the end; so how exactly with the Great One heal him and what will the Great One make him into?

Good to know. I just wanted some clarification on that. So that was the exercise of the Great One enhancing a Host without wiping his personality that you hinted we would see in Chapter 20. And funny to see that the Variants have been cowed into silence finally.

> is Lt. Johnson a Warrior-Guard now, or is he some sort of lesser morph? > Yes, he's been elevated to that level, but has not been given a mind-wipe. He's still him, with substantially more power. > Also, an absence that seems slightly concerning… where did the Variants go? > They were there the whole time, honest, kneeling quietly by Joe. They were too afraid to do their usual antics.

A couple more thoughts that occurred to me: is Lt. Johnson a Warrior-Guard now, or is he some sort of lesser morph? Also, interesting that Johnson can enthrall his own men. Or perhaps the positioning of the hands is simply a universal gesture that binds a Host and a symbiont to the will of the man who does it to him? Also, an absence that seems slightly concerning... *where did the Variants go?*

> I assumed you were calling back to Vive le Québec libre! > Oui.

> I agonized over this line. I was afraid it was too funny for the moment. I’m glad you saw it as I intended it. It didn't strike me as too funny. I assumed you were calling back to Vive le Québec libre!

You bastard. I was cheering for Rugby Boy to crush the plant with his new muscle until the last moment.
