I think they'll call him "Gil" (btw -- my Baby Name book has "Gilen" (hard "G" -- gill-uhn, not like "Gillian" with a soft "G") meaning "Vow" or "Oath", but I like yours better.

Bravo! HAIL ABSMAN! Gilen Lafleur. The last name was obvious- the flower- but I had to dig for Gilen. Eventually, I tracked down that it is a Basque variant of Ghislain, which means betrothed or hostage So Rugby Boy is literally a flower hostage. You sly fox, you.

I was inspired to mock up a billboard for Mariposa on the DeviantArt page where I post my transformation images and photocomics. Thought you might enjoy it: [Drink Mariposa](https://www.deviantart.com/criskane/art/Drink-Mariposa-M2M-Transformation-862279616) Who knows? Maybe this'll inspire me to write another "Six Pack" story?

> In fact, I never saw Rugby Boy as being anything other than a minor character – Snake’s BF/ boy. It's truly a testament to your skills as a writer, and a plotter in particular, that Rugby Boy's arc from Snake's submissive love interest to his equal and an independent man feels like it was intended from the get-go, and not just a happy side-effect of you deciding that you had to stick with the "realistic" version of events that stemmed from the Deputy's rebirth. A serendipitous side-effect of plot-crafting, and I'm completely here for it. > I have the beginnings of an idea for Rugby Boy – you’ll see me plant the seed in 21. As you mentioned on the discussion thread, you see Book Two as being about finding out who among the cast is wheat, and who are weeds. I'm very curious for a hint of what you have planned for our favorite rugger.

> And those tropes almost necessarily force the character who is being protected into a passive role in the narrative. > In fact, I never saw Rugby Boy as being anything other than a minor character -- Snake's BF/ boy. (Notice how he never got a name?) It wasn't until the plot began developing that Rugby Boy's role began to become more important -- no one was more surprised than me when his transformation became the climactic event of Book Two. > ...but now they are equals; Snake can’t lean on his psychic influence over Rugby Boy to control him anymore. I look forward to Rugby Boy being more assertive in Book Three. > I have the beginnings of an idea for Rugby Boy -- you'll see me plant the seed in 21.

Ironically, getting an alien symbiont that's going to be whispering in his ear to make more plants and convert more Hosts may actually do wonders for Rugby Boy's autonomy in Book Three. I love Rugby Boy and Snake to death, but looking back over Book Two, it's obvious that Rugby Boy hasn't had a crazy amount of personal agency in the story- he's been Snake's plus-one the whole book, doing things because Snake either tells him to or uses his psychic control over Rugby Boy to make him do it. He was very much the prince/beau-in-distress to Snake's knight-in-leather-armor. And those tropes almost necessarily force the character who is being protected into a passive role in the narrative. But now that Rugby Boy has fallen prey to the very peril that Snake wanted to protect him from- by Snake's own hand, in an ironic twist- well, there's nothing keeping Rugby Boy playing beau-in-distress anymore. Sure, all those loads Rugby Boy took will probably still give Snake some influence over Rugby Boy, but now they are equals; Snake can't lean on his psychic influence over Rugby Boy to control him anymore. I look forward to Rugby Boy being more assertive in Book Three.

I was worried about your reaction. > I would have blown him on my knees the second he ripped off the cell door > That was my favorite moment, too. > And the attitude he’s approaching the Great One with… > Yeah, it's nice to see Rugby Boy with his game face on. He's all lovey-dovey bottom boy, but we forget that he's a professional rugby player, so he's no softie. I have an interesting anecdote to share about this moment after you read 21.

"On tonight's episode of Locked Up Abroad, a bi-lingual French Canadian rugby boy almost pretending he wasn’t locked in a jail cell in a foreign country fucking an alien flower. But first, a message from our sponsor 1-800-FLOWERS....." I'm in love with Rugby Boy now more than ever. Losing his humanity with defiance and anger. I would have blown him on my knees the second he ripped off the cell door. And never being a real fan of Snake, I was glad to see Rugby Boy knock him to the ground. And the attitude he's approaching the Great One with....I trust you in whatever plan you have my Rugby Boy!!! I think I'll take the hour and a half drive up to the border and stare northward pining for my Rugby Boy.
